CONFLICTS ATTORNEY

Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm , is seeking a highly skilled Conflicts Attorney to join its Conflicts Clearing Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding the firm and its clients from risk while supporting new business intake processes across multiple offices nationwide.

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record .

  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction , in good standing.

  • 5+ years of substantive legal experience, preferably in conflicts of interest or professional responsibility at a large law firm .

  • Strong knowledge of conflicts of interest principles under the Rules of Professional Conduct.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage high volumes of work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.

  • Strong research, computer, and database skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the intake of prospective new clients and matters on behalf of firm attorneys.

  • Conduct conflicts checks, review reports, and identify potential conflicts of interest.

  • Communicate with attorneys to resolve conflicts and obtain necessary due diligence.

  • Draft and analyze engagement letters, scope letters, and conflict waiver letters.

  • Ensure accurate processing of new clients and matters in compliance with firm policies.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams on new business requests.

  • Maintain and implement ethical walls and other legal screens as required.

  • Stay current on ethics rules, ethics opinions, and case law related to conflicts of interest.

  • Monitor client mergers and acquisitions to identify and resolve potential conflicts.

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate shared documentation.

  • Participate in periodic in-person team-building events and quarterly meetings, as required.

  • Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Base salary ranges by location (commensurate with qualifications and experience):

  • Illinois: $124,000 – $186,000/year

  • District of Columbia: $135,000 – $202,000/year

  • New York City: $135,000 – $202,000/year

  • Colorado: $112,000 – $169,000/year

  • California: $135,000 – $202,000/year

In addition to base salary, this position offers bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
